The College is part of the oldest and largest youth charity in the world. YMCA works in 119 countries reaching over 58 million people.
YMCAs in England and Wales help young people, families and communities with housing, health and well-being, training, education and more. They:
- intensively support 228,000 young people every year;
- provide nearly 11,000 beds for young people every night;
- support almost 53,000 people engage in education, skills and training;
- serve more than 660 different communities.
YMCA Scotland works with over 15,000 different young people across Scotland each year supporting them to achieve their fullest potential in life. It is specially concerned with youth development, youth justice, employment and training, and international work.
YMCA Ireland works with around 26,000 young people each year. From Londonderry to Belfast to Newcastle to Dublin to Cork there are local YMCAs providing services ranging from peace building to vocational training. They have particular expertise in work with families, youth justice, schools, vocational training, outdoor education and health work. All the work is based on the principles of effective non formal education.
